John Leeming
John Leeming, Principal cello, from Birkenhead on the Wirral, studied at the Royal Northern College of Music.
First orchestral position was in the BBC Northern (Philharmonic) Orchestra, Then moved to Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra before coming to the Ulster Orchestra in 1979.
Most memorable moment with the orchestra so far?
I have had lots of memories with the Ulster Orchestra so far, but two really do stand out: the European tour including Musikverein Vienna in 1986 and the Hong Kong residency in 1999.
How do you spend your holidays?
Travelling. I enjoy hill-walking in the Alps, especially Austria. I also like to ski in the winter season.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy travel, walking, Keeping fit and D.I.Y.
